• He worked as a The Divine Fishing Rod Company in 1888. Per Michael Sinclairs work "Fishing Rods by Devine"
''Frank Wolcott officially joined the company in Jan. 1888. He was the first and only full-time employee. Later that year, 16 year old George Becraft was added to the rodmaking staff as an apprentice.''
The text goes on to say
'In 1890 Fred incorporated as "Fred D. Divine&Co.'' He hired Louis Becraft (older brother of George) as shop manager and rodmaker. The fourth rodmaker was George McDuffee, Fred's brother-in-law. He also added George Penfield, a machinist, on the staff. During this period of the company's history, Fred was not only head of the company, he was its only salesman. The Divine family home must have becomea a lively place-Delos and Martha Devine,Julia Devine (freds sister),Fred and his first cousin/wife Ada Devine and George McDuffee all living under one roof' This may well give some insight as to the various maladies suffered by the inhabitants.• He owned land Book 44, pg. 144 on 21 Jun 1906 in New York, United States. George Becraft, 93, a retired carpenter - contractor, died yesterday in the Old Couples Home, 1657 Sunset Ave., after a brief illness.
He was born in Franklin Springs, March 31, 1867, a son of Peter and Julia Boquin Becraft. He moved with his family as a child to Utica and was educated in Utica schools.
He retired about 16 years ago.
In Utica, on Aug. 27, 1890, he married Lucy A. Hughes. She died Nov. 30, 1943.
Mr. Becraft was a member for a long time of Centenary Methodist Church.
He leaves two daughtes, Mrs. Raymond H. (Ruth) Walrath of Newport Richey, Fla., Mrs. J. Ford (Pearl) Ackroyd of Rocky River, Ohio; four sons, Ear S. of Canandigua, Clifford of New Hartford, Grant of Troy, and Clinton of Syracuse; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 tomorrow from the Surridge-Roberts Memorial Chapel 146 Eagle St. wth the Rev. Herbert F Leroy, pastor of Centenary Church, attending Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs. George Becraft, 73, died Nov. 30, 1943, in a nursing home after a 10-day illness. Mrs. Becraft's home was 1333 Sunset and she had been a patient in the home since Nov. 20.
Lucy Adeline Hughes was born in Utica Mar. 10, 1870, a daughter of the late Lewis and Lucy Casler Hughes. She was educated in the local schools and lived here all her life. Fifty-four years ago last August she was married to Mr. Becraft.
Mrs. Becraft was an active member of Centenary Church and its FA Class for many years.
Besides her husband, she leaves two-daughters, Mrs. Fred J. Allison, Buffalo, and Mrs. J. Ford, Ackroyd, Cleveland, Oh; five sons, Earl S., Clifford and Floyd, all of Utica; Grant, Troy, and Clinton, Syracuse; 15 grandchildren and six nieces.
The funeral will be from the E. J. Quinn Chapel, John St.
