• Marriage: Eliza and John Beecroft were married July 8, 1839 in the old Anglican Church in St. Thomas. They were married by the Reverend Mark Burnham. The births of their children were all recorded in the bible that was given to them by Rev. Burnham that day. Witnesses to the marriage were a Henry Dawson and Nancy McRay. The family probably emigrated from England to the US about 1840. Then in the early 1850s they moved to Upper Canada. They were in Caradoc in 1861 and were probably there for some considerable period of time before leaving, probably to return to the US after the Civil War, as their son John was working in Brooklyn in 1870.
