• His obituary was published. Thomas B. Beacroft
Thomas B. Beacroft, a well-known farmer of the county, owning and residing
on the farm in Amwell township, formerly known as the Dunn farm died
suddenly yesterday of apoplexy, aged about 59 years.
Mr. Beacroft's death is believed to have been directly due to a fall
received in Washington about two years ago. At that time one of his legs
was thrown out of place at the knee and the ligaments were loosened. Since
that time the leg has been bothering him, and had affected that side of his
body. Monday, Mr. Beacroft was out building a fence. During the afternoon
he did not feel at his best and towards evening, when stooping to pick up a
rail, he would become very dizzy. He went to the house, ate his supper and
sat around until bedtime. He kept getting worse, and after he had gone to
bed became unconscious. Physicians were summoned, but he gradually sank
until yesterday morning, when death resulted.
Thomas B. Beacroft was a native of West Alexander, where he lived when a
young man. He had followed farming all his life. At one time he resided on
the Clark farm, in South Franklin township, near Lagonda. Later he
purchased the farm where he died, located in Amwell township. His wife, who
survives him, was Mary Katherine Alexander, to whom he was married early in
life. Besides the widow there survive these children: Fannie M. Beacroft,
of Jersey City, N.J.; Russell R. and Roy P. Beacroft, at home; Mrs. L.W.
Walters, of Jersey City, N.J.; Mrs. R.S. Mounts, of Washington, R.D.; Mrs.
Joseph J. Mounts; Mrs. Samuel Tanner and Mrs. W.E. Welch, of Washington.
One brother, John Beacroft of West Alexander, also survives. Mr. Beacroft
had been a member of the East Buffalo Presbyterian church for several years.
