A pretty June wedding was solemnized at the Bell house, Wednesday
afternoon, June 8, 1904, when Mr. Lee W. Walter, of Wheeling, and Miss Sara
Martha Becroft plighted their troth. The wedding march, played by Sig.
Salvatore Unreadable, signalized the approach of the appointed hour, 3:30
o'clock, when the bride and groom entered the parlor attended by her sister,
Miss Etta Becroft, and Mr. C.K. Lowe, of Wheeling, a civil engineer for the
government. The bride was attired in a becoming white soft gown and carried
white roses. Rev. Alex. MacLachlan, D.D. performed the ceremony, using a
pretty ring service, in the presence of nearly a score of guests.
Congratulations over, the whole party was invited to the tastily decorated
dining room, where Mine Host Egan and unreadable prepared a splendid dinner.
The party included Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Becroft, Claysville R.D.65, parents
of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. John G. Carson, James? J. Carson and Miss Nellie
Deyell, Washington R.D.11; Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Miller, Claysville R.D.62; Mr.
and Mrs. John? King, Washington R.D.5; Miss Emma England of Pleasant Grove;
Charles Duvall and Homer Crago, of Wheeling; Mrs. Alex. MacLachlan, Miss
Annie Sprowls and the Recorder. Mr. and Mrs. Walter, a worthy young man, is
manager for the Wheeling Cement and Plaster Co., a prosperous concern of the
Nail City. The bride is a most estimable young woman, They have the best
wishes of many friends.
They were given the unusual feature of an afternoon serenade by a crowd of
calithumpian kids. Mr. and Mrs. Walter left on the 6:12 train for Wheeling,
