George Becraft was born September 20, 1868 near Markesan, Wisconsin. He was the son of Hannah and Jake Becraft. He passed away May 29th, 1953 at the home of his brother in law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Labrenz who reside at Dalton, Wisconsin at the age of 85 years, eight months and nine days.
His youth was spent on a farm known as Hickory Point, here he labored and grew to manhood.
On May 29th, 1912 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Ida Yaap and to this union was born 12 children. Emma, Mrs. Frank Woerz of Wisconsin Dells, Clarence of Columbus, Wisconsin, Clara, Mrs. Elvin Gagley of Oxford, Wisconsin, Mae, Mrs. Fred Street of Packwaukee, Wisconsin, Alice, Mrs. Raymond McTier of Endeavor, Wisconsin, Verna, Mrs. Joseph Koeller of Portage, Wisconsin, Eleanor, of Dalton, George of Madison, Howard of Arlington, John of Rio, and twins Florence, Mrs. David Duell of Madison and Floyd, now with the armed forces in Korea.
He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, 12 children, three step children, Lena, Mrs. Clarence Lentz of Portage, Earnest of West Bend, and Chester of Coloma, 40 grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Hardell funeral home Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with burial in the Witson Cemetery. Rev. Cecil C. DeGarmo, Methodist minister, officiated.

Ida Labrenz Becraft was born Decemer 3, 1890 at Deerfield, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Augusta and Gust Labrenz.
She passed away July 9, 1954 at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 6 days at the nursing home in Oxford. She spent her childhood days on a farm near Oxford.
She was united in marriage to Fred Yaap and to this union was born three children, Lena, Mrs. Clarence Lentz of Portage, Ernest of West Bend, and Chester of Coloma. She was later married to George Becraft on May 29, 1912 and to this union was born twelve children, Emma Mrs. Frank Woerz, of Wisconsin Dells, Clarence of Columbus, Clara, Mrs. Alvin Bagley, Oxford, Mae, Mrs. Fred Street, Pacwaukee, Alice, Mrs. Raymond McTier, Endeavor, Verna, Mrs. Joseph Koebler, Portage, Eleanor, Packwaukee, George of Madison, Howard of Fall River, John of Dalton (twins), Florence, Mrs. Arthur Wallstead, Madison and Floyd of Prairie du Sac.
She leves to mourn besides her children, one brother, five half brothers and three half sisters, forty three grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Hardell Funeral home, Montello on Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Peter Weaver, Methodist minister, Montello with burial in the Hillerest cemetery.
