Henry Hook And Tom Beecroft Both Called Quite Suddenly On TuesdayHook was County PioneerHe Came to this County Sixty Years Ago; Was an Extensive Land OwnerWellsburg mourns the loss of two well known citizens. Henry Hook passed away at his home very suddenly Tuesday morning and Tom Beecroft died at the University hospital at Iowa City Wednesday forenoon.Tom Beecroft For some time Mr. Beecroft's friends had been afraid that he would not get well, but they were not prepared for the death message which came from the University Hospital at Iowa City Wednesday morning. He was taken to the hospital for a second time about ten days before in the hopes that something might be done for him. Since the shocking railway accident last September which resulted in the instantaneous death of his daughter, Mary, Mr. Beecroft's former health refused to come back, and he passed from one condition to the other until the end came. The remains were sent from Iowa City to the home here and they arrived here early Thursday morning.Funeral services will be held from the Christian Reformed church in Wellsburg next Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. H. C. Bode will have charge of the services.Mr. Beecroft was in his fifty-fifth year. He came to Wellsburg about twenty-two years ago and made his home here continually. For many years he owned and operated a bakery in Wellsburg. During the past seven or eight years he was employed as a rural mail carrier from Wellsburg. He is survived by his wife and six children, four of whom are girls and two are boys.

Thomas Theodore Beecroft was born the 12th day of November in the year 1872 at Council Bluffs, Iowa.He came to Wellsburg, Iowa, on the first day of March, 1900, where he had made his home since. In 1904 he was united in marriage to Sophie Freerksen. This union was blessed with 7 children, 2 sons, Clarence and Theodore Thomas, and five daughters, Margaret, Mary, who preceded the father in death, Ordie, Doris and Junice Belle.He was a faithful member of the Wellsburg Band for a number of years until about a year ago when it became necessary for him to give it up on account of his health.After retiring from the bakery in 1920 he became rural mail carrier and that has been his occupation until October, 1926, when he was injured in a railroad accident and since then was unable to take up his work.He sought relief from his sufferings at the hospital in Iowa City, going there Dec. 1, 1926. Little could be done for him there, so he came home Dec. 23rd to gain strength.Monday, Jan. 24th, he went back to Iowa City where everything possible was done for him, but death came Wednesday morning at the age of 54 years, 2 months and 21 days.Besides his immediate family, he leaves to mourn 2 brothers and 4 sisters. They are: Wm. Beecroft of Eldora; Harry Beecroft of Aitkin, Minn.; Mrs. J. B. Koupal of Long Beach, Cal.; Mrs. Hugh McLean of Industrial City, Mo.; Mrs. Albert Timm and Mrs. P. P. Wight of Council Clubs. Two sisters and one brother have preceded him in death.
