Special Features Made Annual Event at K. of C. an Enjoyable Affair

The annual Girls Friendly Society's dancing party given last evening at Knights of Columbus hall was most enjoyable in every respect.

The hall was very prettily decorated with ground pine and flags. Derby's orchestra with Paul Frohnapple, violinist, and the three Fitches, furnished selections from the latest productions. During the dancing the lights were dimmed and a tri-colored spot-light thrown on the American flag while the orchestra played patriotic airs.

A buffet luncheon under the surpervision of Mrs. Grace Snowden was served in the banquet hall which was decorated with evergreen and colored lights.

Among the out of town guests present were Sergeant Lloyd Milliman of Spartanburg, S.C., E. Elmo Becraft of Colgate University, Fred Zimmerman of Buffalo, Lawrence Kelsey of Tulsa, Okla., Elizabeth and Margaret McCaffery of Buffalo, Aleen and Michael McCaffery of Allegany.

The Glee club of Colgate University at hamilton, N.Y., of which Elmo Becraft is a member, has started on a concert tour to include Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Jackson, Mich., Chicago, Milwaukee, Jamestown, Lockport, and Rochester.

The first concert was given Tuesday evening at the Hutchinson High school in Buffalo. The trip will conclude April 23rd at Rochester.

Elmo Becraft and his friend, Robert Truchses of Philadelphia, left Monday evening for Niagara Falls, after spending the week end in the city with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Becraft of North Third Street.

Leland E. Becraft, 74, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternon at the family home, 1503 North 36th street. A native of Fort Madison, Iowa, Mr. Becraft came to St. Joseph from Pittsburg, Pa., as executive director of the St. Joseph Community Chest, a post he held for 15 years until the United Fund was formed in 1957.

He served in the same capacity for the United Fund of Rapid City, S. D., for several years and returned to St. Joseph in 1964 after retirement. He was an elder and Sunday school teacher of the Wyatt Park Christian Church. A licensed minister, Mr. Becraft was pastor of Union Star, Mo., Christian Church. He was a life member and past master of the Bellefield Masonic Lodge No. 680, Pittsburgh, Pa., a 33d degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of the Downtown St. Joseph Rotary Club of which he was past president. He was also a member of the Missouri Valley gem and Mineral Society and was active in Boy Scout work. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Becraft of the home; a son, Charles E. Becraft, Prairie Village, Kan.; a daughter, Mrs. Leroy Stingley, St. Joseph, and three grandsons.

The body is at Meierhoffer-Fleeman mortuary.

A pretty home wedding took place this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in Warren, Pa., when Miss Mildred Wettling, daughter of Mrs. Martin Wettling of 506 Water street, became the bride of Leland E. Becraft of Akron, O., son of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Becraft of North Thired street, Olean.

The bride was attired in her travelling suit of dark brown with hat to match.

Following the ceremony a dinner was served, covers for 12 being laid at the bride's table.

Among the pre-nuptial parties were an announcement party by Mrs. C.C. becraft and a dinner by Miss Marion Naylor of this city.

After a wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Becraft will reside at 119 Adams street, Akron, O.

The groom is well known in Olean having graduated from the Olean High school and also from Colgate University. The bride has made a number of acquaintances during her visits in Olean. Both young people have the best wishes of a host of friends for a happy married life.
