• His obituary was published in The News (Frederick, MD) on 4 Jan 1951. William Henry Burriss, a resident of Buckeystown, died there Wednesday evening at 5:30 o'clock after an illines of paralysis suffered about one week ago.
He was a son of William H. Burriss, now living at Barthlows, and the late Katie Becraft Burriss. In addition to his father he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Della Dixon Burriss and the following children: William Orlando Burriss, Frederick; Harry H. Burriss, Yellow Springs; James O. Burriss, Monrovia; Mrs. Lawrence Bolton, Glen Echo. Also these brothers and sisters: Charles Burriss, Frederick; Mrs. Charles Duvall, Kemptown; Mrs. Lee Oden, Biathlons; John Phelps, Hagerstown, Grayson Phelps, Fredrick. in addition to a number go grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Burriss engaged in farming most of his life. In recent years, he had been an employee of the Hudson Supply Company of Buckeystown.
The body rests at the funeral home, 8 East Patrick street, where friends may call after seven o'clock this evening. Funeral services will take place there Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Interment in Mount Olivet cemetery. C. E. Cline and Son, funeral directors.
