• His obituary was published in The Salt Lake Tribune on 5 Jun 1998. LEWISTON, Utah--Our loving and wise husband, father and grandfather was taken from us suddenly on June 2, 1998. Stanley Lloyd Thayne, age 68, died in a tragic accident in Cache Valley, Utah.
Born July 1, 1929, into the loving home of Thomas and Lacy Farnsworth Thayne, a 13 lb. boy, seventh of eleven children. He served his country with distinction in the US Army during the Korean conflict where in 1952 he was awarded the Silver Star for courage under fire. Married Thora Beecroft in the Salt Lake Temple, August 20, 1954. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding numerous positions of service over the years. He especially loved the youth. He was a devoted husband who tireless rendered loving care to his beloved wife. A gentle loving father and grandfather who always put his family before all else. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
God knew there would be times
We would need a word of cheer,
Someone to praise a triumph
Or brush away a tear,
He knew we would need to share
The joy of "little things"
In order to appreciate
The happiness life brings,
He knew our troubled hearts
Would sometimes throb with pain
At trials and misfortune
Or some goal we can't attain.
He knew we would need the comfort
Of an understanding heart
To give us strength and courage
To make a fresh, new start
He knew we would need companionship
Unselfish ... lasting ... true,
And so God answered our heart's great need
And sent... us... you.
How little can mere words reveal of what our hearts most deeply feel.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister and three brothers.
Survived by his wife; children, Linda, Lloyd (DeAnna); grandchildren, Mandy (Merlin) Ennis, Christopher, Lance and Katie.
