• Biography: schaghticokehistory.wordpress.com. Winston Hamilton appears in the 1940 US census, living with his parents in the village of Schaghticoke. He had graduated from Schaghticoke High School in 1934. In 1940 he was 26 years old, and was seeking work. He had made just $300 the previous year, working eight weeks as a cemetery laborer. His WWII draft card recorded that he was the Superintendent of Elmwood Cemetery. During World War II, Winston, known as Wes, was in the Seabees, based in Rhode Island. He returned to Schaghticoke after the war, and married Mary Helen Beecroft in 1946. They divorced and he married Anna E. Welch in 1971. Winston died in 2002 in Hoosick Falls and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
