• His obituary was published. Eldean Shultz, 87, of De Soto, KS, passed away April 4, 2009 at Hillside Village in De Soto. Funeral Services will be 11:30 a.m., April 7, 2009 at the De Soto Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., before the service at the church. Condolences may be sent to www.brucefuneralhome.com. Eldean was born August 29, 1921 in rural Coffey County, (near Lebo) Kansas to Elmer Edwin and Anna Belle Clarkson Shultz. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Eldean married Lila "Jeannie" Beecroft on January 18, 1945 in Olathe, KS, and they moved to De Soto. He was a heavy construction labor supervisor for Tigner Construction. He had also worked for Tri City and Tobins Construction companies, mostly on road and highway development. Eldean attended De Soto Baptist Church, and was a member of the Laborer's International Local Union #1290. He was an expert woodworker and built cabinets for family members. He loved spending time gardening. Eldean enjoyed traveling to and attending his Navy reunions. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jeannie; son Jack Shultz; brothers Harold and Glen; sisters Lois Brown, Vaneeta Lafferty and an infant sister; and one grandchild. Eldean is survived by his daughters Pat Terry and Dale of Ottawa, IL, Peggy Likins of Osawatomie, KS and Deanna Frackowiak and Dirk of Paola, KS; son Derald D Shultz and Wendy of De Soto; sister Freida Yeager of Gardner; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
