General Notes: Husband - Jacob Joseph "Jake" Beecroft

Jacob "Jake" Joseph Beecroft was born February 27, 1874 in Caradoc Township. Jacob was married August 30, 1899 in Melbourne, to Edith Venetta Brown. Edith was born August 13, 1881 in the United States. Jacob took over the family farm upon the death of his father in 1901. He and Edith, their son Earl, along with his mother Mary, and sister Rebecca were on the farm during the 1911 Census. There was also a farmhand named Henry Byron. Sadly, Edith died October 31, 1913 at age 32, at Amasa Wood Hospital in St. Thomas from a ruptured appendix. She was buried in Cowal McBride Cemetery.

Jake was married to his second wife Eva Almeda Light, on July 12, 1917 in the Methodist Church manse in Dutton. Eva was born June 4, 1882 in Malahide Township, Elgin County. During the 1901 Census, Eva had been a domestic working at the Vienna, Ontario home of the Suffel family. Later, during the 1911 Census, Eva was at home with her widowed mother. Eva died on the farm in Dunwich June 4, 1945 and was buried in the Light Family Cemetery, Bayham Township, Elgin County. Jake died quite soon after, on July 18, 1945, at Victoria Hospital, London. He is buried in Cowal McBride Cemetery.
