In her early years, the Duff family came further west by covered wagon, traveling from place to place until they found a satisfactory home site in Nebraska, where she spent much of her girlhood. One of her keenest memories has to do with the experiences they had with the many Indians who lived and hunted in that part of the Territory. George was the son of John S. and Elizabeth Wakefield Beecroft. He was a tank wagon gasoline salesman and later the town electrician. He and his son Lyle operated the first electric plant.

On October 5, 1883 she was married in David City, Nebraska, to George Wakefield Beecroft. The couple came to De Soto, Kansas to make their home, where they lived for more than 50 years. Mr. Beecroft died in 1936, and Mrs. Beecroft went to live with her daughter's family, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Berlin, where she has remained about 22 years.
After a long illness, death called her on April 17, 1958, at the age of 95 years, 5-1/2 months. Surviving her passing is her daughter, Mrs. Daisy Berlin, Bonner Springs, Kansas; ten grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Her two sons, Charles Lyle and George Louis Beecroft preceeded her in death.
