1934 ~ 2012
David Miles Beecroft, age 77, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Oct. 11, 2012, following a lingering illness.
Born Nov. 29, 1934 to Lamont and Laverna Horrocks Beecroft in Ioka, Duchesne Cnty., Utah. He was raised on the family dairy farm in South Jordan, Utah. He graduated from Jordan High School, after which he served two years in Korea with the U.S. Army. After returning from Korea in 1956, he married Carol Jean Dobson. She passed away in 1957. In 1958 he met Nola Wilkins from Murray, Utah. They were married on Dec. 12, 1958. On May 19, 1983 they were sealed for Time and Eternity In the Jordan River Temple. Together they made their home in South Jordan, Utah. During this time he worked for Kennecott Copper Co., and later as Produce Manager for Albertsons.
In 1972 they moved to a small farm in Lehi, Utah, where he pursued his life long interest of raising beef cattle. They both worked for, and retired from, the Alpine School Dist. in American Fork, Utah.
David is survived by his wife, Nola, and four Children: Douglas Lamont (Gaye) Beecroft, Lehi, Utah, Todd Miles (LeAnne) Beecroft, Washington, Utah, John David (Ingrid) Beecroft, Lehi, Utah, Kimberly (Brett) Street, American Fork, Utah, 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles (Jocelyn) Beecroft, Bountiful, Utah, Bruce (Roma) Beecroft, So. Jordan, Utah, and one sister, Betty Ontiveros, Tucson, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Jean, his parents, Lamont and Laverna Beecroft, a brother, Joseph, and a sister, Thora.
David was a devoted and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding the office of High Priest, and serving as a Home Teacher.
He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, and Friend… a man of great Integrity and Compassion, with an unfailing love and devotion for his family. By his example and teachings his children learned the divine and enduring principles of faith, honesty, kindness, service, and virtue. He believed in and maintained a dependable and strong work ethic, which has carried on throughout our family.
David will be greatly missed for many things, including his creative talents with a hammer and a saw, his strength and ability to 'fix' almost anything, his ever-present quick wit and sense of humor, and his willingness to readily forgive and forget our mistakes and shortcomings.
It wasn't in his nature to foster hard feelings toward anyone. He endured to the end with grace and honor. We shall all truly miss this good and righteous man.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at 12:00 noon, with a viewing starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Lehi 2nd Ward LDS Chapel on 500 East 300 No, Lehi, UT.
