In November, 1964, Carl Beecroft, President of the Chilean Mission, travelled to southern Chile. He met with the mayor of Puerto Montt on the 20th of November. Sister Helen Beecroft recorded in her journal that her husband received a "warm welcome from the mayor."

The local paper announced their arrival and said that the delegation hoped to start a branch and build a meetinghouse in the community.

Carl J. Beecroft passed away at the age of 96, on December 15, 2007 in Mesa, AZ. He was born October 5, 1911 in Colonia Garcia, Mexico to Robert Chestnut Beecroft and Nancy Edna Buchanan. He married the love of his life, Helen May Taylor on December 26, 1933. He and Helen May had 3 children, Carl Jr. (deceased), Mona and Katie. They also had a foster son, Patrick. Carl lived a full and rich life with many adventures and service to others. He spent most of his youth in Mexico teaching school, working for various mining companies and raising his family. He had a special love for the Hispanic culture. He was a member of the LDS church which was a very important part of his life. He was called to many positions in the church, including president of the South East Mexican Mission from 1963-1964 and of the Chilean mission from 1965-1966. His heart was filled with love for the missionaries that served under him. He is survived by his two daughters, Marilyn (Roger), Katie (Dennis) and their foster son Patrick; his brother Douglas Beecroft (Pat). Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Helen May; his son Carl Jr.; daughter in-law Rita; grandchildren Carla and Scottie Beecroft; parents; and 9 siblings. Many thanks to those who took special care of Carl over the past year:Traci and Jamie Willis who took "Beeky" into their home; Mona and Roger who were always on standby; Lisa Jackson and Rita Beecroft that visited him regularly; and the great support from Odyssey Health Care (Hospice). Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chandler Heights Ward house in Queen Creek, AZ, 18550 E. Riggs Rd. Helen May Beecroft, a ray of sunshine, passed away gracefully Oct. 28, 2006 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 92. Born June 19, 1914 in El Paso, Texas to Alonzo L. Taylor and Katie Spilsbury. Married Carl J. Beecroft, the love of her life, Dec. 26, 1933. She and Carl had 3 Children, Carl Jr, (deceased) Mona, and Katie. They also had a foster son Patrick. Anyone who has been lucky enough to brush by Helen during her 92-year journey knows she was a positive force whereever she was. She saw the best in everyone, she loved a good prank and she always had a smile or a hug for anyone who stepped in her path. She was a devoted wife and mother, a loving sister, aunt, grandmother, cousin and friend. Of the many LDS church callings she held, she cherished most, the role of being a "mission mother". She served a mission with her husband Carl who was mission president of the South East Mexican Mission from 1963 -1964 and the Chilean Mission from 1965-1966. Many missionaries were fortunate to have been watched over by her loving heart while far away from home. She is survived by her husband, Carl J. Beecroft; 2 daughters, Mona (Roger) Baldwin of Mesa, AZ, Katie (Dennis) Willette of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter in-law, Rita Beecroft of Mesa, AZ; foster son, Patrick Beecroft of Chile; and sister, Marguerite Payne. Also surviving are l0 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by son Carl J. Beecroft Jr.; granddaughter, Carla Beecroft; and grandson, Scottie Beecroft; brothers, Harold Taylor, Zac Taylor, and Ray Taylor. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at the Alta Mesa LDS Chapel on Adobe and 5600 S., Mesa, Arizona.
