Events

• His obituary was published in the East Valley Tribune on 31 Jan 2008. Roger Val Baldwin, an avid fisherman, lost his battle to Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma on January 28, 2008 at the age of 71.

He was born July 15, 1936 in Price, Utah to Edith and Dee Baldwin. He married Mona Baldwin, the love of his life in the Mesa Temple on June 2, 1961, that marriage lasted 46 years. For anyone who has been lucky enough to brush by his 71 year journey on this earth knows that he was a sincere genuine person, who loved life despite the plague of illness that entered his life.

He seldom complained. His complicated disease was known only to his wife and children. He had a passion for his family, for fishing, and his church. During healthier times he spent time with his Mona in Pinetop, Arizona where he taught his grandkids how to fish and love the great outdoors. In the winter he and Mona lived in Mesa where he spent many a day fishing at almost every lake in the Phoenix area. He coached Tennis, taught Spanish and Math for the Mesa Public Schools for 30 years, but if he had his wishes he would have preferred working for the game and fish department.

He is survived by his wife, Mona Baldwin; 2 sons, Randy (Rachael), Kelly; 2 daughters, Traci (Jamie Willis) and Wendy (Cory King); and his sister, Linda Thompson. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Ryan 18, Johnny 16, Justin 4, Jaci 19, Branden 17, Tatum 15, Benson 13, Lee 17, Lane 17, and Bret 10. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ray and David.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at 18550 East Riggs Road, Queen Creek, Arizona. Family visitation will be held at the ward chapel 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Roger's presence will be missed but we know he is in a better place where he can be with his family, where he can run, maybe even fish without ever feeling sick again. We love you Roger. Sign the Guest Book at eastvalleytribune.com.

Events

• Her obituary was published in the Arizona Republic on 23 Feb 2012. BALDWIN, Marilyn "Mona" --- Mona Baldwin, with the ever-present smile on her face, passed away surrounded by her family on February 15, 2012, in Gilbert, AZ at the age of 72. She was born on May 28, 1939, to Helen May and Carl J. Beecoft [sic, Beecroft], in the small mining town of Canaea, Sonora, Mexico. Mona attended Bisbee High School where she made life-long friends and graduated from ASU with a BSN in nursing. She married Roger V. Baldwin, the love of her life, in the Mesa, AZ Temple on June 2, 1961. She worked as a labor & delivery nurse and then for Mesa Public Schools as a nurse. She had many fond memories of her years at Mesa Vista including the staff whom she considered family. Any of you who encountered Mona in her 72 year journey on this earth knows she was full of spunk, smiles, and vigor for life. She seldom complained despite her battles with diabetes, cancer and dialysis. In her own words, some of her greatest moments in life were: her oldest son graduating from medical school, running a marathon, attending clown camp, teaching humor/self esteem classes for Mesa Schools, and her friendship with her sister Katie. She had a passion for friends, family, tennis, Spanish, and nursing. She spent the last few years living with her daughter Traci, traveling the Valley watching her tennis matches and infecting everybody she met with her genuine smile and vivacious spirit. She is now reunited with her Roger who preceded her in death.

She is survived by children, Randy (Rachael) Baldwin, Traci (James) Willis, Kelly Baldwin, and Wendy (Corey) King, 10 grandchildren and her sister Katie.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 11:00 at 26035 S. Lemon, Queen Creek, AZ 85142. Internment will be at Mountain View Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Mona's presence will be missed by all but we know she is in a better place where she can run, play tennis and fish with G-pa without ever feeling sick again. We love you G-ma.
