Miguel "Mike" Ontiveros, at age 63, died of an unexpected serious illness, August 2, 1994, while in Las Vegas, Nevada doing what he loved most-playing in a golf tournament.
Mike was born May 8, 1931 in Midvale, Utah to Julian and Marcelina Ontiveros. He was raised in Utah where he has many friends and dear family members. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Utah in 1963. Mike was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He married his sweetheart, Betty Laverna Beecroft in 1959.Mike was a civil servant for the Department of the Air Force. He and his family lived in Wyoming, South Dakota, Texas, and Germany before making their home in Tucson, Arizona. At the time of his death, Mike had worked at Davis Monthan Air Force Base for 19 years and has many close friends there. He loved golfing several times a week with his "golf buddies" and also truly enjoyed golfing with his sons. He also enjoyed bowling and racquetball.
Mike was very proud of his children. He sacrificed and worked hard to provide good opportunities for them. He was proud of each of them and their successes.
He was looking forward to a long earned and carefully planned retirement with Beth.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Marcelina Ontiveros, and his sister, Margaret Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Betty; his sons, Mike of Midvale; Kevin and Brenda of Salt Lake City; Randy and Tina of Tucson, Ariz. his daughter, Michelle, and his grandchildren, Isaac, Mark, Julian, and Marcelina. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Lucy Saldivar, Clotilda (Tilly) Gomez, Manuel Ontiveros, Mary Gonzales, Andrew Ontiveros; Gloria Torres, Betty Gomez, and Jim Ontiveros.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 8, 1994, in Tucson, Arizona. Brings Funeral Home.
