Albert B. Beecroft, 69, of 308 N. Mills St., former chief clerk in the state adjutant general's office for many years, died today in a local hospital after a long illness. He and his late wife, the former Mae Ennis, operated "The Beecroft House," University student rooming house at the Mills Street address, for a long time.
His wife died Feb 15 of this year.
Mr. Beecroft was born in Madison in 1889, and was a lifelong resident here. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. Up to his retirement 10 years ago, Mr. Beecroft was a bond salesman.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church here, and was a 32nd degree Mason, belonging to Madison Lodge No 3 and the Madison Consistory.
His only survivors are his uncle, Dr. William Beecroft, a Madison dentist, and two nephews, Lt. James E. Driver, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Howard L. Erickson, 2132 E. Dayton St., Madison.
Friends may call at the Frautschi Funeral Home here from 1:30 p.m. Tuesday until time of services.
Funeral rites will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Alfred W. Swan of the First Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill.
