The 1910 edition of History of Taylor County, Iowa, lists the
children of this Jacob Garrett. The biography in the county
history is that of Jacob Garrett, born in Muskingum Co., Ohio,
8 Dec 1835, son of Luke and Elizabeth (Collins) Garrett. The
book states "In the family of Jacob Garrett, the paternal
grandfather ofour subject, there were six children , namely:
Luke, Mary, Mahala, Jacob, Washington, and LeRoy."

1840 census, Warren Co., VA, Jacob Garrett was between Levi
Rose and Smith Brown. His son-in-law Richard S. Calvert was
four households away. Jacob Garrett's household in 1840
consisted of one male 50-60; one male 20-30; one male under 5;
one female 40-50; two females 15 -20; one female 10-15.
