SHE TOOK BEDBUG POISON.
How Mrs. Becroft killed herself this morning
Large Dose of Corrosive Sublimate Caused her death -- Was Undoubtedly Insane when she did the deed -- Daughter of Walter B. Hall.
About 6 o'clock, this morning, Mrs. Allice A. Becroft, who resides with her husband at the residence of her father, Walter B. Hall, at 202 Liberty street, took a dose of thirty-two grains of bedbug poison (corrosive sublimate) and in spite of all the efforts of Drs. Hughes and Griswold, who had been hastily summoned, died soon after.
Mrs. Becroft was undoubtedly temporarily insane when she arose from her bed, went to the closet where the poison was kept, and took the fatal dose. She had been ill for a long time, and her recovery was hopeless. She had been living down in Wallingford until recently. She was twenty-six years of age. No children survive her.
Medical Examiner Wilson was notified and went to the house.
Dr. Wilson found the facts as stated and considered that illness had maed the woman insane. She lingered, according to his report, until 9 o'clock this morning. When the two doctors were trying to relieve her she cried "Let me die; let me die."
Her husband, George F. Becroft, a joiner, who had been working in Wallingford, recently, was watching with her last night, but towards morning dozed off. She embraced the opportunity, to steal out of bed and take the poison.
No inquest was deemed necessary by Dr. Wilson. Mrs. Becroft's father, Mr. Hall, was formerly the up-town postmaster.
The funeral will be from the house Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the bearers to be Arthur E. Miller, Judson Hall, Louis Perkins and Erwin Baldwin.Marriage Events
