Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 11 August 1862 at the age of 21_Enlisted in Company D, 124th Infantry Regiment New York (the " Orange Blossoms") on 05 September 1862._Wounded on 03 May 1863 at Chancellorsville, VA_Received a disability discharge Company D, 124th Infantry Regiment New York on 15 September 1863. Wounded in the knee at Chancellorsville. He suffered from two bullet wounds from that time until his death.
Called "one of the bravest soldiers of the Civil War".

He suffered from that time until his death from two bullet wounds received in action.
