• Her obituary was published on 20 Jan 2016. Birdie Mae Becraft, 95, Kokomo, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at St. Vincent Kokomo. Born July 30, 1920, in Pressman Home, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Short and Bertha (Davis) Short. On Oct. 29, 1949, in Kokomo, she married Walter "Jack" Becraft. He preceded her in death July 19, 1993.
She was a homemaker and a member of Galilian Missionary Baptist Church, where she was church treasurer and guitarist.
Survivors include four daughters, Brenda (Garry) Fisher, Noblesville, Kathy Martin, Bunker Hill, Peggy (Bob) Estle, Kokomo, and Jean (Rick) Johnson, Kokomo; "adopted" daughter, Janet Stedry, Kokomo; and grandchildren, David and Joely Fisher, Sarah and Alex Tiio, Amy and Dale Shank, Andrew Martin, Amber and Matt Wallace, Joe and Kati Early, Nick and Jenny Early, Josh and Misty Becraft, Richard Johnson II, Stephanie Stedry, Frank and Jessica Stedry. There are also 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandson, Logan Munsey.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Pastor Algie VanWinkle will officiate. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
