Son of Abraham Becraft of Claverack and Sarah Riggins (Sartje Riegens) of Linlithgo. He was baptized at the Reformed Church of Claverack and married Clarinda Weldon there on Feb 2, 1822. He was a firefighter on Engine 4 in Troy according to the History of Troy. After Seth died in 1840, his wife moved to NYC and was known as Becroft.
