Mary Burns, longtime pioneer resident of Washington Township, died at her home September 7, 1970. For many years, Mrs. Burns and her husband Dan operated a general store and tavern on Highway 70, a few miles East of ER. Her husband died in 1964 and for a time, she conducted the business alone.

She is survived by a sister, Lora Faust, Boscobel and brother, Martin Faust, Black River Falls. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at the Gaffney Funeral Home Eagle River. Rev. L. Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Eagle River cemetery.
