Lewis Kirkwood "Kirk" BeCraft, Jr.
Lewis Kirkwood "Kirk" BeCraft, Jr., cherished husband, father, and grandfather, departed this life on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at UVA in Charlottesville, Va., surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 20, 1955, in Roanoke, Va., a son of Bettie Fulcher BeCraft of Lynchburg, Va., and the late Lewis Kirkwood BeCraft, Sr.
He was a graduate of Brookville High School and for a majority of his career, he worked as a machinist/welder for RR Donnelly and owner of Kirk's Welding & Fabrication. Kirk retired from Campbell County Schools after many years of service. He loved antique and classic cars, wood working, and fishing. He attended Thomas Road Baptist Church and was a former member of the Brookville Timberlake Volunteer Fire Dept.
Kirk is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Vickie Motley BeCraft, their greatest joy in life being their children and grandchildren. He leaves behind his daughters, Heather Searcey (Brandon), Hollie Palmisano (Anthony), and Hanna Arthur (Joey); and his cherished grandchildren, Ella and Gavin Searcey, Maddox and Brooklyn Palmisano, and Cam and Kenley Arthur.
He is also survived by brothers, Ken BeCraft (Tina) and Kris BeCraft (Kris); sister-in-law, Cheryl Wilder (Kenny); a loving niece and many nephews and friends.
A visitation to honor Kirk's life will take place on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Va. The community is invited to come together to celebrate the remarkable man he was, remembering Kirk with the love, laughter, and kindness he shared with all. A private burial will be held for family.
