FUNERAL SERVICES FOR FRED BECRAFT HELD MONDAY
Funeral services for Fred Becraft, whose death occurred Saturday morning at the Mrs. Molly Sheffield home south of Blair, were held on Monday afternoon from the residence. Reverend Johnson of the Fremont Christian church officiated and burial was made in the Blair cemetery.
Mr. Becraft, who was fifty-seven at the time of his death, was born in Blair on Dec. 4th, 1868, and had been a lifelong resident of Washington county. More than thirty years ago, Mr. Becraft went to work for Mr. and Mrs. Sheffield as hired man on their farm and has made his home with Mrs. Sheffield ever since that time.
One sister, whose address could not be learned, survives Mr. Becraft, together with two nephews, George and Arthur Stimpson.• His obituary was published in the Tribune on 27 May 1926. Fred Becraft passed away at the home of Mrs. Ben Sheffield, formerly the Dr. C.R. Mead place south of town, at about 9 o'clock last Saturday evening and the funeral service was held from the house at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev. E.N. Johnson, of Fremont, officiating. Fred had been ailing for some time but the end came quite suddenly of heart failure.
Fred was born in this county December 14th, 1868, so was in his 58th year. He was never married and had made his home with the Sheffields for some 28 years.
There is now but one sister of a family of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. George Becraft, pioneer settlers in this county.
Fred was an honest, industrious and conscientious citizen whose passing will be missed by many friends, especially by Mrs. Sheffield, who has practically been a mother to him for so many years.
