Carbaugh, 95, of Mont Alto, PA, died Friday, September 26, 2014, in Michaux Manor Assisted Living Center, South Mountain, PA. Born November 18, 1918, in McConnellsburg, PA, he was the son of the late William W. and Ada J. (Cooper) Carbaugh. He lived his early life in the McConnellsburg area. Mr. Carbaugh served with the United States Army during World War II. He and his wife of over 33 years, Cleopatra (Becraft) Carbaugh, were married in 1981. Mr. Carbaugh was a supervisor and later section chief in the ammunitions department at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. He retired in 1977 after more than 30 years of service with the company. He was a member of Harry Zeigler V.F.W. Post 6319, Greencastle, Bert J. Asper American Legion Post #46, Chambersburg, Mt. Pisgah Lodge #443, Greencastle, where he was a Past Master, Harrisburg Consistory, and the National AARP. Mr. Carbaugh was an avid hunter and fisherman, taking hunting trips to nearly every state in the continental United States. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two stepdaughters, Deloris DeShong and Beth Bitner, both of Greencastle; one brother, Orville Carbaugh of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William L. Carbaugh; one sister, Mrs. Jaye Poe; and three brothers, Preston Carbaugh, Marvin Carbaugh, and Rev. Lee Carbaugh. Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, September 30, 2014, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. A Masonic funeral will be held just prior to the religious service at 11 AM on Tuesday by the members of Mt. Pisgah Lodge #443. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services Tuesday morning in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, 3551 N. Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19140.
