He was born February 23, 1943 in Mount Airy, Md. Art retired from the former RF & P Railroad after serving more than 25 years. He was a member of the Old Regular Baptist of Jesus Christ Tivis Chapel.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rita Becraft; sister, Mary Ligtner of Maryland; three step-sons: Don Fleming and wife, Barbara, of Fredericksburg, Va.; Rick Fleming and wife, Tina, of Eclectic, Ala.; and Tim Fleming and wife, Loretta, of Fredericksburg, Va.; step-grandchildren, Curtis Ferlin, Katie Fleming, Richard Fleming, Joshua Fleming, Candice Rueda, Jonnie Fleming, and Matt Fleming; and 10 step- great grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Elders Rick Mullins and Mark Justice officiating. Interment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2019, from 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rita Edwards Becraft, age 88, of Abingdon, VA passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the Berea Health and Rehab Center in Fredericksburg VA. She was born Sep 1, 1934, to Richard Lee Edwards and Roma Cochran Edwards in rural Dickenson County, Virginia. Rita retired from the National Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Hospital in Arlington, VA after more than 34 years of service. She was a loyal member of the Old Regular Baptist of Jesus Christ at Tivis Chapel.
Rita was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband of 47 years Arthur Becraft, brothers Harold and Cline Edwards, and sisters Sue Edwards Kelley, and Brenda Kaye Edwards Barrett. She is survived by sister Shirley Edwards Stanley of Abingdon, VA; brother Scottie Edwards of Haysi, VA; three sons Don Fleming and wife, Barbara, of Fredericksburg, Va.; Rick Fleming and wife, Tina, of Eclectic, Ala.; and Tim Fleming and wife, Loretta, of Fredericksburg, Va.; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Elders Rick Mullins and Mark Justice officiating. Interment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
