• His obituary was published in the Pineville Herald in Oct 1909. A.S. Wylie, an aged and respected citizen of Pineville, departed this life, at his home here, Saturday morning, Oct. 16, 1909, at 2:15 o'clock, after an illness of several months. The funeral service was conducted at the family residence, by Rev. J.P. Caldwell, of the Methodist church, Sunday morning at
9 o'clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Tracey Cemetery, six miles north of Pineville.• His obituary was published in the Pineville Herald in Oct 1909. Andrew S. Wylie was born Jan. 3, 1835, in Madison county, Indiana. He was married Jan. 2, 1861 to Lucy Cummings, who died June 18, 1871. To this union, four children were born. And on Oct. 1, 1872, at Nevada, Iowa, he was united in marriage to M.J. McClain, who survives him. To this union six children were born. He came to McDonald county, Missouri, in 1884, and to Pineville three years ago, where he resided until 2:15 o'clock, Oct. 16, 1909.
He was forty years a school teacher. Began in early life to teach, and continued to teach until age and afflictions prevented further work in the school room.
He united with the Methodist church in 1864, and remained a faithful member until his going away. It is true, after coming to Pineville, Bro. Wylie was not able to attend the public services of God's house. He loved the house of devotion, hymns of praise, and the communion of God's people. He was a kind husband, a loving father, and a Christian gentleman. His end was peaceful. It was like the calm setting of the sun in a clear sky.
In his departure from the walks of men, he leaves a widow, ten children, twenty eight grandchildren, and many friends to mourn his loss. J.P. CALDWELL.
