General Notes: Husband - Herbert Beacroft

Herbert served in the Lincolnshire Regiment and was posted to Shanghai from 1932 to 1937. From 1937 to 1939 was a constable in the Derbyshire Police Force and served in Clay Cross, Derbyshire. He married his first wife there but it ended in a divorce. In 1939 he was recalled into the Army and posted to France. He served in the Military Police. He escaped from Dunkirk in a small boat and was picked up by the Ramsgate Patrol Boat. After the war he married again and went into the Toy and fancy goods business. After his daughter was born the family emigrated to New Zealand to join Herbert's brother. Arthur. They sailed on the Dutch ship Maarsdam. They stayed in New Zealand for 10 years. For a while they lived in Spain then settled in Wootten Bassett, Wiltshire
