He first married Olga B. Behrenhauser, June 10, 1919, Grand River, Lake County, Ohio, where he was a fisherman.

Olga's parents were Fred and Bertha Behrenhauser. She was born in Wheeling, WV. They had a daughter Claire Ella Johns born and died in 1923, 3 months old. Adam was widowed in 1923.

Adam's occupation was Chief of Police at Steel Plant on his death certificate.

Her father was a cigar maker and died in 1902, Ohio County, WV. Her mother married widower Ernest Bertram in 1926.

She died of tuberculosis a couple of weeks after losing their three month daughter Claire Ella.

Note: her sister Augusta L. Behrenhauser married Frederick George Schnell.
