• His obituary was published. Obituary. -- Died, in this city, May 11th, Mr. Thomas Beacroft, aged 62 years.

Mr. Beacroft was born in England, and was educated as a gardener on one of the large estates in that country. He came to Bangor in 1834, since which time he has been one of the most active and successful of gardeners. To uncommon industry and intelligence in his great art he added the graces of a gentleman and the spirit of a Christian. It is not quite a year since we recorded the death of his estimable wife, who was a mother in Israel, and whom he felt he should soon follow to the heavenly home. Their quite and loving earthly home was the centre of the kindest hospitality, and was often visited by all classes of our citizens.
It was the seat of the "Beacroft Sabbath School," and of the social, religious meetings of the neighborhood, and where all found a ready welcome and the warmest sympathy.
Mr. Beacroft's life has seemed to illustrate most favorably, the success and honor, the respect and confidence which may be won by the steady pursuit of the every-day duties of life, as a man, a citizen, and a Christian, in the simple endeavor to be faithful and useful.
He died, as he could have wished, on a bright and beautiful morning in mid May, in the midst of his loved family, in which he has been signally blessed, and the company of cherished friends, and was sustained by the firmest trust in God, and in the realities and hopes of a blessed immortality in the spirit world.
We have known Mr. Beacroft long and well, and we never knew a better man, or one who more sincerely endeavored to fill up life's hours with its uses and duties. He has so long been known by our citizens generally, and his home has been so many years prominent in its social and religious influences that some special notice seemed to be demanded.

"Brother, there is bending o'er thee,
Many an eye, with sorrow wet,
All our stricken hearts deplore thee;
Who that knew thee can forget?."
