"Tubby" Beecroft, 77, of Englewood, Frackville, died Wednesday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, Pottsville. Born in Butler Township, he was raised by his late aunt and uncle Robert and Ethel Beecroft. He had been employed as a crane operator for Empire Steel Co., Reading, until his retirement. He was a graduate of the former Butler Township High School, Class of 1953. He was a veteran serving in the Navy aboard the USS Columbus. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville, past president of Frackville Little League and a former head coach of the Frackville Teener League. Tubby was very active, for several years, with numerous Frackville youth organizations, serving as a coach, umpire and offering his support wherever needed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, the former Marlene J. "Mellott" Beecroft, in 2007; aunts and uncles, Robert and Ethel Beecroft and Michael and Clara Barron.

Robert W. "Tubby" Beecroft, 77, of Englewood, Frackville, died Wednesday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

Born in Butler Township, he was raised by his grandparents, Robert and Ethel Beecroft.

He had been employed as a crane operator for Empire Steel Co., Reading, until his retirement.

He was a graduate of the former Butler Township High School, Class of 1953.

He was a veteran serving in the Navy aboard the USS Columbus.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville, past president of Frackville Little League and a former head coach of the Frackville Teener League. Tubby was very active, for several years, with numerous Frackville youth organizations, serving as a coach, umpire and offering his support wherever needed.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, the former Marlene J. "Mellott" Beecroft, in 2007; his grandparents, Robert and Ethel Beecroft; and his aunt and uncle, Michael and Clara Barron.

He is survived by his three sons, Michael and his wife, Kimberly Beecroft, Tampa Bay, Fla., Craig and his wife, Lauren Beecroft, Lake Wynonah, and Doug Beecroft, Englewood, Frackville; his grandchildren, Brady Beecroft, Avrie Brode, Ariona and Chase Conville and Bethany Hollenbush; a brother, Raymond Beecroft; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville, with the Rev. Oliver Brown, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Annunciation Cemetery, Englewood, Frackville. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.

The family prefers contributions in Robert's name be made to the Restoration Fund of Zion Lutheran Church, Oak and Frack streets, Frackville, PA 17931.

OBITUARY
Marlene J. Beecroft, 59, of 767 W. Pine St., Englewood, Frackville, died Thursday morning at her residence.

Born in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of Robert and Patsy Erb Mellot, Frackville.

She was a 1965 graduate of Frackville High School.

She was employed by the state Department of Transportation, Harrisburg, as a clerk/typist.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville, where she served as a member and secretary of the church council.

She was a former den leader of Cub Scout Pack 790, Frackville, and for several years was a member of the Frackville Little League Parents Association and manager of the Little League concession stand. Marlene's biggest joy in life was her church, her friends and providing a loving and caring home for her family.

She was preceded in death by an aunt and uncle, Clara and Michael Barron.

Surviving are her husband, Robert "Tubby" Beecroft, with whom she celebrated 40 years of marriage on Oct. 12; three sons, Michael, Lakeland, Fla., Craig, Frackville, and Doug, Englewood; a brother, Robert J. Mellott, Carlsbad, Calif; a sister, Christine and her husband, Stephen Rennick, Saint Clair; and her closest friend, Lenore Seitzinger, Frackville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville, with the Rev. Cynthia Kennett, pastor, officiating. Friends may call at Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday. Interment will be in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Englewood, Frackville. The family requests contributions in Marlene's name be made to the restoration fund of Zion Lutheran Church, Oak and Nice streets, Frackville, PA 17931.
