VERNON -- The Rev. Raymond M. Beecroft, 85, died Friday morning at Vernon Green Nursing Home.
He was born April 14, 1907, in Philadelophia, the son of Joseph M. and Lilly (Priestnall) Beecroft. He attended schools in Philadelphia. He received a bachelor's degree from Southern Vermont College and became a certified public accountant. He also attended the College of the Bible in Philadelphia.
For several years he was on the staff of the Scott Paper Co. in Chester, PA. He was ordained to the Advent Christian ministry in the early 1950s and came to Vernon in the 1960s. There he designed and oversaw the building of the Vernon Life Care Facilities which consist of Vernon Green, Vernon Hall and Vernon Birches.
Mr. Beecroft was past president of the Vermont Nursing Home Associatino and received a commendation from the governor of Vermont for his contribution to nursing home care and adminstraton.
He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Johnson; one son, R. Bruce Beecroft of Swampscott, Mass; one daughter, Elaine Brown of South Glens Falls, N.Y.; a sister, Ethel Salisbury of Philadelphia, 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A son, Robert, died in 1982.
