He was born February 13, 1919 in Barron, WI to Harry and Amelia (Fiskie) Beecroft. Larry was raised in the Turtle Lake and Almena area and attended school in Turtle Lake. He entered the US Navy and served in the Pacific during WWII. Larry was married in Cumberland, WI on November 10, 1946 to Dorothy Tappon who preceded him in death on March 6, 1998. He was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Mary Schoenhals and Kathy Beecroft and 3 brothers.
Larry worked with his brother in the plumbing business and later owned a hardware store in Barron. They moved to Cumberland and he was manager of the Erickson Super Valu from 1966 until his retirement in 1986. Larry enjoyed golfing and gardening.
He was a member of the Anderson-Thomson Post #98, American Legion and a member of First Lutheran Church, Cumberland for many years.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Patti (Donn) Farmer of Fayetteville, NC and Nancy (Craig) Bowen of Cumberland; 2 grandchildren, Dana and Jordan Bowen of Cumberland and 1 sister, Myrtle Mjaanes of Rice Lake.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 18, 2011 at First Lutheran Church, Cumberland, WI with Rev. Timothy Schmidt officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Cumberland, WI. Military honors were accorded by Anderson-Thomson Post #98 American Legion, Cumberland. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday at the church.

Dorothy Clare Beecroft, 75, of Cumberland died March 6 at her home.
Mrs. Beecroft was born June 21, 1922 in Cumberland to Charles and Genevieve (Yuill) Tappon. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1940 and married Lawrence Beecroft in Cumberland on Nov. 10, 1946. Mrs. Beecroft worked at Ben Franklin for 10 years and was a lab technician at Stella Cheese for 25 years.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of Cumberland; three daughters, Mary Schoenhals of Roberts, Patti Farmer of Fayetteville, N.C.; and Nancy Bowen of Cumberland; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Peke Kost, and Maydean Farr, both of Cumberland.
Mrs. Beecroft was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathleen.
