ABOUT THE STATE: A 14-year-old Antigo youth was fatally wounded Saturday while deer hunting in the Town of Lanark in easter Portage County. Kevin Posplehal was shot in the left thigh and pronounced dead at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point. The death was the second hunt-related gunshot death in the current nine-day season, which began last Saturday. The other known victim of an accidental gunshot wound was 16-year-old John Beecroft of Barron, who died Monday after a companion tripped and his gun discharged, striking Beecroft in the back.
