Mr. Henry Samells passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gordon Maclean, Uxbridge, on November 22nd, after a short illness.
The deceased was born in Darlington in 1855, a son of John Samells. He, with his parents, moved to Cartwright in 1867. In 1885 he was united in marriage to Miss Amanda Mountjoy, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Mountjoy of Haydon. After her death, he married Mrs. John Miller of Seagrave (nee Miss Jane Beacroft), in 1895. In 1916 they moved to Blackstock, where his wife predeceased him in 1929.
The funeral service at Uxbridge was conducted by Rev. Meek, minister of the Presbyterian Church, Uxbridge. Rev. H. J. Bell conducted a short funeral service at the Union Cemetery, Blackstock, where interment wsa made. The pall bearers were six nephews, Lorenzo Mountjoy, Geo. Samells, Wilfred Williams, Stanley Ploughman, Theron Mountjoy and Milton Slemon.
Mr. Samells is survived by one daughter, Manda, Mrs. Gordon Maclean of Uxbridge; one sone, Tennyson, of Blackstock; two sisters, Mary Anne, Mrs. Wm. Mountjoy, Saskatchewan, and Louisa, Mrs. John Mountjoy, Nestleton; two brothers, William of Nestleton and Walter of Scugog.
