Arthur was a Regular in the army. He joined the Lincolnshire Regiment as a drummer boy in 1917. He was a small arms instructor at Netheravon on Salisbury Plain prior to WW2. Was commissioned during the war, divorced his first wife and emigrated to New Zealand with his second wife, Vera where he ran his own poultry farm.
