• Event: Death recorded by Joseph in his journal. May 1848

7 May 1848. My dear lovely daughter Hannah Beecroft died afflicted with measles.

11 May - we interred Hannah, when we got home found Emma's life hastening to a close with measles. We laid her to rest by the side of her sister. Conference at Bradford 140 members, 27 since last Conf. Elder Orson Pratt preached to a large audience. Called at sister Hirsts at New Leeds. I preached to a good audience a mile beyond Halifax. I called upon my cousin Sarah Wood to whom I preached the gospel. My wife is doing pretty well at the Power rooms, my daughter Mary Ann doing next to nothing, Elizabeth doing very well at spinning. My son Christopher, is a good boy, in his mother's absence and takes care of our son John who is two years old.
