The Farnsworth brothers went out of business and Joe went back to Colonia Garcia to farm at the old home with his sister Rowene and her husband, Frank Beecroft. Previously his parents with their children, had moved to Colonia Juarez so they would be near the high school. It was then that he met Hannah Wood, who was teaching school in Garcia. He had this to say, "The first time I saw her I had a feeling I had never experienced when meeting other girls and was determined to know her better. 11 After two years of courting Hannah and Joe were married.
