Omaha Daily Bee, February 14, 1903:
Council Bluffs News - It was stated yesterday that the will of the late Delos S. Cook of this city, who died last week, which was filed for probate yesterday, will be contested by Egbert L. Cook, the son who was disinherited. Delos Cook, who owned considerable property, both real and personal, left everything to his second wife, a young woman about forty years his junior, and a clause in the will specifically provides that his son, Egbert L. Cook, have no part or share in the estate whatsoever. The will was executed July 27, 1901, and it appoints William Larsen, former deputy county recorder, executor.
Egbert Cook, who is the only son of Delos S. Cook by his first wife, it is said, will contest the will on the grounds of alleged undue influence. It is said that the marriage of Mr. Cook who for twenty years was connected with the firm of M. E. Smith & Co., in Omaha, with a young woman so much his junior, led to an estrangement between him and his only son.
