• His obituary was published in the Hazleton Plain Speaker on 25 Mar 1932. Hazleton Plain Speaker; Friday, March 25, 1932:
William Spencer, aged 63 years, died at 4:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home, 125 Washington avenue, West Hazleton, following a four weeks' illness. He was born in England and had been a resident of Hazleton and vicinity for the past fifty years. He was a member of Christ's Memorial Reformed church, West Hazleton.

Surviving are his widow and the following sons and daughters: George Spencer, Mrs. Christ Hildebrand, West Hazleton; John Spencer, Samuel Spencer, Alfred Spencer and Estella Spencer, all at home. The following brother and sisters also survive: Henry Spencer, Hazleton; Mrs. Martha Woodford, Minersville; Mrs. Lewis Meiss, Black Creek.

The funeral will be held Monday, at 2 p.m. Services will be conducted at the residence by Rev. E. F. Faust. Interment will be made in the Vine street cemetery.
