• Event: 1964. Attempted to Start Car

A man who attempted to start a car while under the influence of liquor was fined £25 and had his licence suspended for one month at a recent Windsor Court.
He was Edward Bruce Beecroft, 43, labourer, of 258 Macquarie Street, Windsor, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Constable Doust (Windsor) said that at about 6:40 p.m. on March 14 he had seen Beecroft leave a Windsor hotel, get into the driving seat of a car, and start the motor.
Beecroft was unsteady on his feet and appeared to be moderately under the influence. He had admitted having four glasses of beer shortly beforehand, Constable Doust said.

The body of a 44-years-old South Windsor man was found in the Hawkesbury River neear Windsor early last Thursday morning.

He was Edward Bruce Beecroft, a foreman at A.C.I. Plastics Pty. Ltd., of Macquarie Street, South Windsor.
It is understood that at about 7 p.m. last Wednesday, a local resident saw Beecroft walk down to the river at the foot of Kable Street and disappear into the water. When he did not come up, the police were notified.
After draggin the river unsuccessfully for some time, Constables J. Curtin and P. Hopkins found the body at about 5:30 the following morning.
The Hawkesbury District Coroner (Mr. R. N. Evans) will hold an inquest.
Deceased leaves a wife and three children.
