BELLWOOD -- Deloris Benda, 94, of Bellwood, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, the Golden LivingCenter in Columbus.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bellwood with the Rev. Jay Buhman officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today, with a 6 p.m. vigil, at McKown Funeral Home, and continue from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.

Deloris was born July 4, 1919, in Columbus to William H. and Emma (Kipp) Beecroft. She attended Field Elementary School and graduated from Kramer High School in 1938. On Oct. 10, 1939, she was united in marriage to Carl Benda at St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Bellwood. They lived in Genoa, rural Shelby, and Bellwood. Deloris worked at the Shirt Factory and at Dale Electronics for 20 years as a material handler. Deloris was a member of St. Peters Church in Bellwood, American Legion Auxiliary in Bellwood, and the Red Hat Ladies in Bellwood. She loved to travel and was ALWAYS ready for a road trip as her bags were always packed. Deloris loved to make quilts, do crossword puzzles, read, and truly enjoyed being with her family and friends.

She is survived by daughter Caroline Scholz of Bellwood, son Carl Benda Jr. of Longmont, Colo., daughter Connie Jo (Ray) Kudron of Columbus, 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, brother Bob Beecroft of Foley, Ala., sister-in-law Barb Benda of Shelby, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents William and Emma Beecroft; husband Carl Benda on Dec. 9, 1991; grandson Troy Scholz; two sisters Gen Mueller and Eileen Curtis; and brother Norton Beecroft.
