• His obituary was published in the Las Vegas Review-Journal on 8 Jan 2017. HRIS BEECROFT JR. Chris Beecroft Jr., the commissioner of Alternative Dispute Resolution for Clark County District Court, passed Dec. 26, 2016. He was 67. Chris was born in St. Paul, Minn., to Elaine and Chris Beecroft. He attended UNLV, received the Phi Kappa Phi Sparks Memorial Graduate Fellowship award and was also presented Nevada's Centennial Medallion awarded to the graduating senior holding the highest four-year scholastic record earned at UNLV. He graduated in 1971 and earned his law degree at McGeorge School of Law in 1974. He was past president of the UNLV Alumni Association and served on the Alumni Board of Directors. He also served on the building committee that over saw the construction and completion of the Richard Tam Alumni Hall. Chris was in private practice for over 26 years in Las Vegas before being named ADR commissioner in 2001 which oversees various methods of resolving disputes outside of litigation and administrator of the Short Trial Program a year later. He also lectured, spoke on panels and coached client counseling teams at the William S. Boyd School of Law. His Short Trial Program won a 2004 Achievement Award with the National Association of Counties and a better government award with the Pioneer Institute for Public Policy Research in Boston in 2006. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Elaine and Chris; and brother, Richard Beecroft. Chris is survived by his wife, of 46 years, Christine; their two children, Melissa and Jonathan; brother, Douglas Beecroft (Anne) of California; uncles, Orrin Baisden and Pastor Kenneth Baisden; aunt, Norma Kovacik; and many loving family members. Chris' passion in life was his family, traveling, cooking and spending time on his boat, but his day wasn't complete until he solved the daily Jumble puzzle in the papers. Celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in the Grand Hall of UNLV's Richard Tam Alumni Center. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the William S. • Memoriam: 15 Nov 2018. "It's in the rules \endash read the rules," was a well-worn mantra from Commissioner Chris Beecroft Jr. in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) at District Court. Chris passed away on Dec. 26, 2016. In addition to his work in Discovery, Commissioner Beecroft oversaw the Alternative Dispute Resolution and the Short Trial programs. He was considered a pioneer for ADR in Southern Nevada. On Nov. 15, the State Bar of Nevada ADR section unveiled a plaque to commemorate his work outside of the discovery courtroom on the fifth floor of the Regional Justice Center. Attorneys, court officials, his former staff and his family were in attendance.
