The friend and companion of
Sir Sidney Smith and Lord Nelson
He greatly distinguished himself in many
Daring and unequal conflicts
In 1796
He took part in
Cutting out a French vessel in the Port of Havre
When he was severely wounded
Rendered great service at The Dardanelles
In 1807
And shared in all the brilliant victories of
St Jean D'Acre, Alexandria, Algiers,
And Copenhagen
At the close of The French War he retired
From the Service
And died in Luton October 9th 1859
Aged 79 Years
In The Peaceful Hope Of The Christian
