CHARLES BECROFT

A well-known and highly respected resident of Wilberforce, Charles Claude Becroft, died suddenly on Monday night at the age of 60 years. He was reading a newspaper and suddenly collapsed and died of heart failure. The late Charles Becroft a son of the late Edward Becroft, was born at Wilberforce. and farmed, there all his life. He married Miss Clara Maria Izzard, also a Hawkesbury native, who survives him. Their children are: Colin, Clive, Vera (Mrs. Young, Sydney), Cecil, Horace. Dudley and Edward. All the children except the married daughter reside at Wilberforce. The deceased was a brother of Messrs Henry and Edward Becroft, both, well-known residents of Wilberforce, and two other brothers are Mr.- James Becroft, of New-castle, and Ms. Clare Becroft, of Croydon. Deceased was a man of quiet disposition, but had the grit and determination of the Becroft family. He was an upright man and possessed a large circle of friends. The funeral, on Tuesday afternoon was very largely attended. Rev. G. P. Birk conducted the service in St John's Church, Wilberforce and at the grave, and spoke in, eloquent terms of the deceased's worth as a husband, a father and a citizen. The funeral was conducted by Mr. Chandler.
