San Marcos, May 14. -- (Spl)-- Bertram Beecroft, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Beecroft, and member of the San Marcos Boy Scout troop No. 118, is listed as one of the 15 new Eagle Scouts in the Capitol Area Council, having met all qualifications for the highest rank offered by the Boy Scouts of America.

The youngest child and only son of Samuel Richard and Irene Leonard Beecroft, Bert grew up in San Marcos Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M College in 1951 and was commissioned in the United States Air Force. He became a fighter pilot, flying F-86 Sabre jets in Korea where he was awarded the Air Medal for various actions.

After returning from Korea in 1953 he met and married his lifelong companion, Elizabeth Pratt Beecroft. They moved to Corpus Christi in 1964 and raised a family there. Bert loved the Episcopal Church, his family, and his community. He founded B. E. Beecroft Co., Inc. in 1967.

He is preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, and his sisters Margaret, Claire, and Catherine.

He is survived by his children Mary, Sam (Melissa) and Tom (Lynne) and grandchildren Allison Strickland (Peter), Eric Beecroft (Rebecca), Kathleen Beecroft (Rhys), Lauren Clayton (Jeremy), Allison Sandman (Keegan), Kelsey Morgan, Davy Beecroft (Bailey), and nine great-grandchildren, give or take.

Burial will be at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi at 2:30 pm on Thursday, November 6, 2025. A memorial celebration will then be held at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church at 3:00 pm.

She was born in Dallas, Texas on May 15, 1931 to Robert Barton Pratt and Elizabeth Lucy Kimball Pratt. Known as Betty, she grew up in Texas and Oklahoma where her father worked in oil and gas exploration as a geophysicist. Graduating from North Dallas High School, she attended Baylor University and was an Honors graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in English. Soon after college, she met, fell in love, and married a young Air Force fighter pilot. The couple settled in Corpus Christi in 1964. Betty was active for many years at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, serving the Women of the Church and helping where help was needed. She was a loyal volunteer at The Fig Tree, the church's retail James Avery jewelry store until its closing. She loved textiles, weaving, and sewing, and was an accomplished seamstress. Other long time interests include Delta Gamma Sorority, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Colonial Dames, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
