• His obituary was published in The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) on 17 Feb 2009. RICHMOND - Edward Robert "Eddie" Remstedt, 85, formerly of Norfolk, was called home to the Lord Feb. 16, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Bruce Remstedt; three stepchildren, Beverley Autry Rogers and husband Bob, Wm. R. Autry Jr. and wife Barbara, Elizabeth Corbin Dunkum and husband Rick; seven stepgrandchildren, Bruce Blount, Aymi Justice, Kristin and Jennifer Dunkum, Bill, Winnie and Hunter Autry; and four stepgreat-grandchildren; two nieces, Ellen Remstedt-Schiavi and Anna Jolene "Jody" Remstedt.
Mr. Remstedt served in the Army during World War II and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was never a father but always a grandfather.
A funeral will be held in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6001 Granby St., Norfolk, Thursday at 1 p.m. with a viewing preceding the service from noon to 1 p.m. The Rev. James O'Connor will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church for LCMS World Relief and Human Care. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
