Archie B. Thompson, 71, of Palm Desert died Feb. 13, 2002, at home.

He was born Sept. 2, 1930, to Harley and Ethel Crisp Thompson in North Carolina.

He married Shirley Becraft on Dec. 23, 1952, in San Jose.

He was a sales representative with Atlantic Richfield Co. for 25 years and served in the Navy for four years.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Palm Desert; his daughter, Sandra Royer of Spokane, Wash.; two sons, Michael of Spokane, Wash. and Stuart of Puyallup, Wash.; his brother, Charles of Atlanta; two sisters, Helen Taylor of Panama City Beach, Fla. and Judy Jones of Birmingham, Ala.; and five grandchildren.

Private arrangements are under the direction of Palm Springs Mortuary of Cathedral City.

She was born on March 3, 1932 in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Shirley was married to her loving husband Archie B. Thompson for 50 years. They lived in Sumner, WA for more than 40 years before moving to Palm Desert, CA. Shirley spent her remaining years in Henderson, NV. She loved it there because she could see the sun come up every morning. In retirement, Shirley and Archie made wood duck decoys. They had a great time selling the decoys at art shows. They both loved RV'ing and traveling across the US and Canada.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Hilma Becraft, and her husband Archie.

She is survived by her sister Barbara (Bob - deceased) Herndon of East Sandwich, MA, children Sandra (Brian) Thompson-Royer, currently doing mission work in Guatemala, Michael (Toni) Thompson of Inchelium, WA, and Stuart (Julie) Thompson of Puyallup, WA. Also, her beloved grandchildren Sarah (Shawn) Thompson-Edgel, Noelle Royer, Forest Thompson-Edgel, Noah Royer, and Grady Thompson, and her great-grandchildren Olivia, Marion, and Maebel Strouble, and Moonlight Set.
